Ayurvedic Tips That Will Make Pregnancy Easy and Complication-Free

Pregnancy is a wonderful journey that every couple wants to culminate into a happy experience. Whether you are planning for your first, second or third baby, the following steps will increase your chances of attaining a complication-free pregnancy.

Plan and Proceed

The moment you and your spouse decide to take the next big step in your conjugal life and become parents, get a plan ready for your journey ahead. Most couples think it’s the wife’s responsibility to prepare for pregnancy, but the male has an equally important role to play as well. The reproductive fluids in both male and female should be at an optimum potency for conceiving a healthy baby. Ayurveda advises preconception planning ideally 3 months in advance. During this preconception period, the couple should take all necessary steps to cleanse their bodies of toxins and attain perfect health – mental, psychological and spiritual.

Stay active

Stress, presence of toxins in the body, poor blood circulation, weak immunity and a weak reproductive system are some of the major challenges faced by couples on the path to parenthood. All of these reasons affect fertility or at least, cause temporary dysfunctions. This can be countered by staying physically active. Light exercises and yoga are perfect weapons to have in your arsenal against these negative factors.

Listen to positive auditory inputs

Soothing music, pregnancy shlokas, shanti mantras and positive affirmations are excellent stress busters and help you maintain emotional as well as hormonal balance. Also listening to mythological stories and scriptures with good moral values are beneficial to a developing foetus since foetal hearing develops around week 16. Positive auditory counter stress and prevents neurobehavioral problems in the foetus later on.

Eat Healthy

Ayurveda recommends a Sattvic diet for couples planning for pregnancy. This is essential for strengthening the reproductive tissues and compliment the effect of medicines and yoga/exercise. Sattvic diet is made of fresh vegetables, grain, fruits and nuts.  It must be consumed fresh, hence make sure not to eat leftovers. Sattvic diet promotes purity of the body and mind, improves intelligence, virtue and joy. Enjoy the process of preparing and consuming food for maximum benefit.

Keep your body and soul happy

Maintaining a joyful state of mind before and during pregnancy establishes a blissful environment for the baby to develop and grow. Keep away from negative thoughts, emotions and sentiments. Company of good friends or a good book is several times better than being with people who burden you with negative emotions.
